Hindu College – Mecca
Mecca is the annual cultural fest of Hindu College and surely is the most fantastic one. Hindu College has been organizing this glorious fest from 1976 and the legacy has continued without any breaks in between. Every year the students put in a lot of hard work in organizing this festival which is complete package of various cultural programs and competitions.
Mecca has always focused on celebrating the aura and passion that the city of Delhi carries in it. Legends like Jagjit Singh, Daler Mehndi and Rekha Bhardwaj have featured in the fest. Shri Ram College of Commerce – Crossroads
Crossroads is the annual fest of Shri Ram College of Commerce and it is certainly an event you don’t want to miss out. The student committees and unions organize this event every year and it turns out to be super hit.
Crossroads features a lot of events from live concerts, debates, dance workshops, stunts and almost everything that thrills you. The 2016 Crossroads event featured live singing performances from Mohit Chauhan and Farhan Akhtar, a nukkadnatak named ‘Dastak’, a hip hop dance workshop from Ram Pradeep and a performance from famous band Euphoria.
Crossroads 2016 also featured competitions like Street Dance Battles, Choreography Competition, debates and a fashion show. This is an event whose beauty literally cannot be described in words.The feeling that you get at Crossroads is something that makes it a must-attend event.
Kirori Mal College – Renaissance
Renaissance, the annual fest of Kirori Mal College truly reflects the vastness and the culture of KMC. The event which started with participation from just 10 colleges, has probably become one of the largest events at Delhi University.
Renaissance holds a large bouquet of competitions every year and always becomes the limelight of DU during it commencement. The event in itself has developed over the years and its ambience is something you cannot afford to ignore.
Renaissance has seen participation from many famous celebrities over the years. Some of the famous appearances at Renaissance include performances from Mika Singh, Neeraj Shridhar, Ghulam Ali, Jagjit Singh, Amitabh Bachchan and Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. Some of the most famous bands of the country like the Aryans, Euphoria and Panikrama have also featured in this amazing event.
Miranda House – Tempest
The annual fest of Miranda house Tempest is as thrilling as the word itself. With its flurry of performances and competitions, Tempest is a big hit every year.
Tempest has always been known for the cultural competitions it holds. Last year, it featured some exciting competitions like Solo classical dance battle, solo semi classical battle, singingcompetitions amongst bands, folk dance, solo singing and many others.
But, tempest is not just about competitions. The DJ nights and live performances are something that is highly enjoyable, just like the competitions. Last year, Shakti Mohan and Neeti Mohan, both being alumni of Miranda house, lighted up the stage with their sizzling performances.
Hans Raj College – Confluence
Hans Raj College, notably famous for its alumni members which include Shah Rukh Khan and many other bollywood celebrities, organizes the event Confluence which as admirable as its alumni. The annual fest of the college is certainly a thrill to watch.
Every year it includes many competitions which become the soul of this event. Folk dance, Classical Dance, Rock Bands, Western Dance, Solo Singing and what not! Hans Raj College certainly prepares a bunch of events which definitely deserve a look.
In recent times, Confluence has featured some modern day heart-throbs like YoYo Honey Singh and Diljit Dosanjh. These appearances and aura of this amazing fest make it amongst the most happening event at Delhi University.
Gargi College – Reverie
Gargi College’s annual fest Reverie is another very famous event organized at Delhi University. Reverie 2017 was a bit more special as this time Gargi College was celebrating 50 years of inception.
Just like any other event at DU, Reverie 2017 did not lag behind in anything, be it competitions or performances. Reverie features competitions like Duet Singing, Folk Singing, Solo Dance, Western Dance and Choir Singing. Reverie featured some excellent performances from DJ Suketu and ShalmaliKholgade.
Reverie 2017 also welcomed two of its alumnus, Urvashi Rautela, who is a renowned bollywood actor and model, and Sanya Malhotra, who rose to fame with her role of Babita in the film Dangal. Reverie 2017 also featured a speech from actor Ratna Pathak Shah.
Kamla Nehru College – Ullas
Ullas is the annual cultural fest of Kamla Nehru College and certainly is amongst the coolest events organized at Delhi University. Much in line with 2017 tagline – Let’s Get Ullasified – the fever of this astonishing event truly ullasifies the viewers.
With an audience in thousands and a bunch of competitions, Ullas is really an enjoyable event. The 2017 Ullas Fest featured competitions ranging from Choreography to Fashion Competition. Appearances by Hamsa Band, Axis Bank CEO Shikha Sharma and Nizami Brothers made Ullas 2017 a big hit.
However, the star of the show turned out to be Jubin Nautiyal, who mesmerized the audience with his bollywoodperformances on songs ‘HummaHumma’ and ‘GulaabiAankhein’.
Shri Venkateshwara College – Nexus
The annual event of Shri Venkateshwara College leaves no stones unturned when it comes to fun and thrill. The 3 day event, Nexus, is probably enjoyed by everyone who enters its ambience.
The features and performances at Nexus make it an appealing fest. This year, the event was even more thrilling as the theme of the event was Bollywood. The competitions, whether they were of dancing or singing, were filled with some brilliant performances from the students.
However, the celebrity appearances actually added the real charm to Nexus 2017. It featured rocking performances from Kailash Kher, The Raghu Dixit Project, Nizami Brother and LakhwinderWadali. The Nexus fest is an all in one package which guarantees entertainment in abundance.
Indraprasth College for Women – Shruti
The annual event of Indraprasth College for Women is actually famous for the huge amount of opportunities it provides. The competitions and the performances by students are the real glamour of this amazing event called Shruti.
Shruti 2017 carried forward the spirit of Indraprastha College and involved a bouquet of competitions for students. Students of the colleges organized competitions in the field of Fine Arts, Western Dance, Quizzes, Photography, Writing and many other fields. Some of the eye catching competitions includedAntakshri, on the spot photography and competitions for Divyangs.
The street play ‘Chauraha’ was also a much admired part of the fest. Along with this, Shruti featured some excellentperformances from Band Inaayat, DJ Myris, DJ Kiran and Audiogram. If you want to see loads of talented performances by students coupled with tons of entertainment, then Shruti Fest is a perfect choice.
