Four Ways to Make Your Garage More Appealing
Do you like hanging out in your garage? Or, is it just a place to store items until you need them again? If you want to spend more time working on DIY projects in your garage, there are a few things you can do to make it a more pleasant place to be.
Utilize Wall and Overhead Storage
Using a wall storage rack for bicycles is a great way to open up space in your garage. Another idea is to store pool toys and sports equipment in overhead bins. Not surprisingly, a garage with a lot of free space looks more inviting than a cluttered one.
Label Utility Shelves
If you have utility shelves in your garage, be sure to label each shelf. You can use small white stickers and a colorful marker for this task. This helps everyone in the family to put things where they belong. Utility shelves are ideal for storing soda bottles, recyclables, small appliances, items for donation and more. A neat set of shelves definitely adds to the appealing atmosphere of a garage/workshop.
Install an Attractive Floor
Most garages have a plain, cement floor. This is a practical floor, but not very attractive. If you’re looking for a more visually appealing floor, applying garage floor epoxy can be a step in the right direction. Getting a floor that’s durable as well as comfortable to walk on can contribute to the appeal of your garage.
Put Up Artwork
There’s no reason why the walls of your garage can’t be just as attractive as the walls of your home. Put up some of your favorite posters or prints on the walls of your garage to dress up the space. Be sure to choose some colorful posters. These are especially effective at standing out on garage walls painted in a neutral color.
A garage can be an excellent place for a workshop, recreation area or even a mancave. Sometimes just a few simple changes can completely change the atmosphere of the area.
